Taylor-Dunn was founded in 1949 by a Southern California farmer named R.D. Taylor Sr.. He decided to expand his business by selling handcarts to other farmers. Sooner than later, came the need for a motorized version. Production started in 1951 with the launch of the first electric vehicle, and took off from them, becoming the core business of the company.
