Honda and Acura will be making a big push at this year’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Honda will premiere a concept for the next generation Accord there, and Acura will have its new ILX compact sedan, a new generation of the RDX SUV and a concept for the next generation NSX.
Acura is slowly giving out details about the ILX. We know that it will be based on the same platform as the current North American Civic, and it will be a hybrid, Acura’s first. Acura also just announced that the car will be built at its factory in Greenburg, Indiana.
"Building this all-new Acura vehicle as the exclusive global source is a big responsibility for our associates. I am very proud of what our Indiana team has accomplished in such a short time, and we have great confidence in our ability to produce a world-class luxury vehicle that exceeds the expectations of Acura customers." said Honda Manufacturing on Indiana President Jun Nishimoto.
The one thing that Acura has not told us about the ILX yet is what exactly it will look like. In the gallery above, you can see the Acura Advanced Sedan Concept that it showed several years ago at the LA Auto Show. It is possible that the ILX could borrow some of these design cues.
