Acura NSX Will Be Built at Custom Performance Center in Ohio

has announced that it is building a $70 million (€55 million), 184,000ft² (17,094m²) production facility in Marysville, Ohio, that will be dedicated to building the next generation Acura NSXAcura NSXJapan, 2013 > present22 photos
in 2015. Honda is calling the new factory the Performance Manufacturing Center; it is Honda's third car factory in Ohio.

The new factory will employ 100 workers who will work on assembly and engineering of the NSX. The powertrains will be assembled a few miles away in Ohio and shipped to the performance center for installation.

“This new plant will be as unique as the vehicle we will build here. In creating the plan for this plant, we looked closely at each process and determined the perfect blend of associate craftsmanship and technology to adopt a new approach to manufacturing," said Clement D’ Souza who is responsible for the car's production. 

The NSX will have a mid-mounted V6 with three electric motors with two in the front and one in the rear to provide all-wheel drive. The standard transmission will be a dual-clutch gearbox. Honda is not saying how much power it will have, but chief engineer Ted Klaus said that the car is being benchmarked against the 458 ItaliaFerrari 458 ItaliaItaly, 2009 > present676 photos

Honda has already announced that there will be racing versions built for the Japanese Super GT series and American Le Mans Series.

Outside of the US, the new car will be badged as a Honda. 

The factory will be located near the headquarters of Honda R&D Americas and Honda Engineering North America. Honda is also building a dedicated battery plant and enlarging its test track nearby.
