available in Europe with 313hp and 479lb-ft of torque, the version for the rest of the world will use Audi's 3.0 TFSI engine with 354hp and 347lb-ft of torque. The car will make its world debut at the North American International Auto Show on January 14.

The new petrol-fueled version sprints to 100km/h in 5.3 seconds with a top speed of 250km/h (155mph). The diesel version takes 5.1 seconds to get to 100km/h and has the same 250km/h electronically limited top speed. It has a combined fuel economy of 8.5l/100km (21mpg US) and emits 199g/km of CO2.

The engine uses a supercharger with two rotors spinning at over 20,000rpm and compresses air to 0.8bar (11.6psi). It uses two intercoolers to cool the air.

Power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission with torque vectoring all-wheel drive.

The SQ5 rides 30mm (1.18in) lower than the standard car on 20in wheels, and there is a 21in wheel option as well. The regular car uses electric power steering, but there is an option for a dynamic steering system with a variable ratio.

The SQ5 gets a platinum-painted radiator grill with double bars, a roof spoiler, new bumpers and gloss trim. It is available in two, exclusive paint colors - Estoril Blue and Panther Black.

The interior comes standard in black leather with an optional silver headliner, sport power seats and aluminum trim. The cars get grey dials with white numbers, aluminum pedals and aluminum paddle shifters.

The petrol SQ5 will be on sale in the United States, Canada, Russia, China, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, South Africa, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and the Ukraine and roll out there throughout the year. American sales will begin in the third quarter of 2013.
