Audi technical director Ulrich Hackenberg says that the program would was “an interesting idea but not a priority.”

Hackenberg’s predecessor, Wolfgang Dürheimer, spearheaded the program, and he left the company in June.

The car would have had a minimum of 600hp from a mid-mounted diesel engine and all-wheel drive. The chassis would have been a brand new, carbon fiber monocoque.

Dürheimer described the car as: “It is one out of five potential projects, but it is definitely my personal favorite.”
