Audi launches new 520 hp S8

Audi has launched its new S8 ϋber-saloon. The S8 will be launched onto the market in early summer 2012.

The new twin turbo V8 develops an impressive 520 hp and 479 lb/ft, but still returns 27.7 mpg. It features a new “cylinder on demand” feature for improved efficiency at part load and when the start-stop system is in use.

The new engine is linked to an 8 speed tiptronic gearbox and a permanent 4 wheel drive system with a sport differential.

20” wheels come as standard, housing steel brakes, with Audi offering ceramic discs as an option.

The new aluminium body weighs in at a featherweight 231kg which contributes to the 1975kg kerb weight. The body can then be painted in one of 13 new colours. Inside, the S8 boasts sports seats and ambient lighting as standard.

LED lights add to the effect, while double glazing insulates occupants from excessive noise. Once inside, occupants can use the Audi’s MMI system, complete with 8” screen as standard. Bluetooth and Bose surround sound are also standard, as is the Audi connect system.
