The new RS model, developed by quattro Gmbh, will be presented by the four rings brand at next week’s Geneva Motor Show. The new RS 5 continues the dynamic tradition of the RS range that started 15 years ago with the RS 2 Avant.
The RS 5 is powered by a 4.2-liter V8 FSI with an output of 331 kW (450 hp) and maximum torque of 430 Nm. With a top speed of 250 km/h controlled electronically, the Audi RS 5 reaches 100km/h from a standing position in 4.6 seconds. The top speed can reach 280 km/h if requested.
With the help of the standard seven-speed S tronic transmission the RS 5 seems to combine performance with fuel efficiency. According to Audi, the eight-cylinder engine has an average consumption of 10.8 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres, thanks to a minimized friction in the engine and the whole drivetrain, the oil pump only operating on demand and the energy-recovery system that allows the RS 5 to conserve energy during coasting and braking.
The RS 5 is equipped with quattro’s all wheel drive and features the next generation in Audi’s differential technology: the crown gear differential. This new generation enables the variation of distribution of torque between the front and rear axes, which will ensure the sporty handling.
The Audi RS 5 will be on sale from this spring, with a standard price of approximatey 77.700 euros.
