Better fuel economy and more equipment for 2012 Cruze

Chevrolet’s best-selling Cruze model is set to receive improved fuel economy and additional standard equipment for its 2012 edition.

The manufacturer has announced that all Cruze models with the 1.4 litre turbo engine and six-speed automatic transmission will benefit from a 2 mpg improvement in fuel economy. This means the Cruze Eco automatic will bump its efficiency up to 39 mpg from 37 mpg, while the standard automatic model will go from 36 mpg to 38 mpg. The company say that a lower axle ratio has allowed this upgrade for the 2012 models.

The optional $525 Connectivity Plus Cruise option will also become a standard feature on 1LT and Eco models for 2012 after it was ordered by 90 percent of American customers in 2011. The package includes Bluetooth phone connectivity, USB port, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, cruise control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a leather-wrapped shift knob.        

Other new options to be available on the 2012 Cruze include a touch screen navigation system on Eco, 2LT and LTZ models, and Blue Granite Metallic, Blue Topaz Metallic and Victory Red exterior colours.
