reported its best fiscal year ever in its March investor's report. Total revenue was up 11.7% to €76.8 billion, earnings before interest and taxes were up 3.5% to €8.3 billion and group profit was up 4.4% to €5.1 billion. Total sales of all of BMW Group's automotive brands were up 10.6% to 1,845,186 cars. For BMW's automotive section, it had average earnings of 10.9% on each car it sold.

“The past year has been the most successful year in BMW Group’s corporate history, with new high levels achieved for sales volume, revenues and Group earnings. We have achieved or surpassed all of our targets for 2012 in the face of very challenging market conditions," said BMW Chairman Norbert Reithofer.

BMW will pay dividends of €2.52 for each preferred share and €2.50 for each common share. That means that the Quandt family, which owns 46.7% of BMW stock will receive €703 million in dividends for the company's success. Most of that BMW stock is shared among Johanna Quandt and her children, Stefan Quandt und Susanne Klatten.

The BMW brand is still the leading seller of cars for the group. Sales were up 11.6% to 1,540,085 cars. It is the first time BMW has sold over 1.5 million cars in a fiscal year.
