BMW Announces Five-Year Deal with UK EV Charger for i3

has signed a five-year contract with Chargemaster, a UK company that specializes in EV charging, to create the necessary infrastructure for the BMW i3i3BMW i3Germany, 2011 > present26 photos

electric car when it is released. Chargemaster will also help BMW market the i3. It is the leading operator of EV charging in the UK.

The deal is part of BMW's attempt to make sure there is a suitable charging infrastructure for the i3 before it goes on sale later this year. It will make it possible for i3 owners to use Chargemaster's ChargeNow public charging infrastructure. Chargemaster will also provide the charger's for BMW's DriveNow car sharing service that will also use the i3.

“We see Chargemaster playing an important role in preparing the way for E-mobility. This investment and wide ranging cooperation agreement will accelerate our activities as well as boost the synergies with some of our already existing services and investments," said Thorsten Mattig, Managing Director BMW i Ventures.

BMW is also working with a company called Park at My House in the UK to give its buyers access to even more charging points.
