BMW Group Global Sales Up 23% for November and Up 10% for Year

had a strong November on top of a strong year so far. Global sales were up 23% for November to 170,932 cars and up 10.1% to 1,664,088 cars for the year. 

BMW Group is performing well in all three of its major markets. Sales were up 9.9% in Europe to 76,084 cars and are up 1.5% for the year with 787,286 cars sold. 

Asian sales are also doing well. It sold 45,990 cars there in November, up 48.9% from the previous year. It has sold 444,859 cars there so far this year, up 30%. China is responsible for most of these sales. It sold 31,090 cars there in November, up 62.3%. BMW attributes this to now building the X1X1BMW X1Germany, 2009 > present51 versions

there. Sales are up 37.6% in China for the year so far to 295,974 cars.

In North America, BMW Group sold 43,356 cars in November, up 29%, and has sold 373,398 cars so far this year, up 9.9%. Most of these sales come from the United States where they were up 38.8% in November to 36,461 cars. BMW Group has sold 303,728 cars in the US, up 11.3%, for the year so far. 

BMW brand sales were up 26.4% in November to 145,452 cars. It cited the X3X3 Gen.2BMW X3 Gen.2Germany, 2010 > present26 versions

sales were up 6.6% over the previous year to 25,077 cars, and it has sold 272,773 cars this year, up 6.7%.

BMW Motorrad sales were up 10.4% to 6,749 cars, and it has sold 100,289 motorcycles this year, up 0.2%. Husqvarna sales were down 2.2% in November to 1,155 motorcycles, but it is up 19.2% to 9,484 motorcycles for the year so far. 

"The success of our models proves the strength of our premium brands and that we are building the vehicles people desire. We posted solid gains in many of our markets last month and we aim to continue the momentum. This puts our record sales target for 2012 well within reach and we will once again be the number one premium car company worldwide," said BMW Head of Management Ian Robertson.
