BMW Has Record Sales Month in April

had a record sales month for April selling 145,505 cars, which represents an increase of 6.1% over the same period last year. For the year to date BMW has sold 571,040 cars, which is a 9.8% increase over the same period in the previous year. 

“Following on from the best first quarter in the company’s history, we have just reported our most successful April sales ever. We are well on course to achieving a record year in 2012. We are clearly benefiting from a very attractive product line-up which is finding success with customers right across the globe," said Ian Robertson, Member of the BMW Board for Sales and Marketing.

BMW Group had major sales gains in Asia with a 25.1% increase and a 30.8% increase in China alone. North American sales were up 3.9%. Sales in Europe though were down 2% compared to last year. Although sales in the Netherlands, France, Austria and Germany all were up compared to last year.

sold 23,789 cars worldwide in April, which is a decrease of 0.2%. It appears that Mini is becoming more popular in South Korea where it sold 500 cars in April representing a 50% over last year. 

BMW Motorcycles are also growing with a worldwide sales increase of 3.5%. It sold 13,088 bikes in April. Husqvarna sold 918 motorcycles in April, which is up 52.2% over last year.

Despite fluctuations in certain markets, all of BMW's brands have experienced sales increases for the entire year so far compared to last year.
