BMW i8 and 4 Series to Get Debut at Frankfurt Motor Show

Group will debut the production i8 and at the Frankfurt International Auto Show this year. It is pulling out all of the stops for its exhibit that will include a three-story display and a 300m-long test track.

“At this year’s IAA there will be a focus on the topic of electric mobility and the pure electric BMW i3BMW i3Germany, 2014 > present experience of our visitors. We are looking forward to creating enthusiasm for the BMW i3 and other BMW Group products,” said Steven Althaus, head of BMW brand management.

The i8 is meant to take the electric concept of the i3 and apply it to the world of sports cars. Like the i3, it will have a carbon fiber reinforced plastic body and composite and aluminum chassis. Power will come from the mix of an internal combustion engine and electric motors.

The 4 Series Coupe will get its debut at the show. The 4 Series is the newest generation of the 3 SeriesBMW BMW 3 Series Gen.6 [F30/F31]Germany, 2012 > present115 versions

BMW will also display the Concept Active Tourer OutdoorBMW Concept Active Tourer...Germany, 2012 > 2012, which shows the shape for a future front-wheel drive BMW.

BMW’s show space will include a 300m-long test track that will allow visitors to ride in the i3 for the show’s 12 days. Over the entire show, the cars will cover 9,100km.
