BMW Opens Second Factory in China

will opened a second factory in Tiexi, China, with its local partner Brilliance. BMW claims that it is the most sustainable automobile factory in China. 

“With our second plant in Shenyang, we will increase our capacity in China to 200.000 vehicles. Together with our partner Brilliance we will further invest €500 million in China, thus preparing for future growth”, said BMW Chairman Norbert Reithofer. 

The third factory will increase production to 300,000 vehicles a year, and in the future all of the plants will be able to 400,000 cars a year.

BMW has invested €1.5 billion in China since 2009. It is one of the company's top three world markets. Counting the new factories, BMW will employ 10,000 people in China in the coming years. It now operates 29 factories worldwide.
