Car producers use noise reduction engineering for quieter cars

GM and several other car companies are starting to bet on a noise reduction technology called Quiet Tuning. The carmakers’ sound experts are spending long periods of time in wind tunnels, where they work on redefining and develop the cars’ body parts, such as front grills and side mirrors, in order to achieve the highest level of silence that it is possible to.

Noise enhancement and reduction are currently one of the mainstream car companies’ main interest and one of the things they are raising the expectations upon. The Quiet Tuning technology stands for achieving quieter engines, tires and exhaust systems. The expected result with this work is to make vehicles with an even higher quality.
