Chevrolet entering Grand Am Series with Corvette Daytona Prototype

Corvette will enter into the 50th Rolex 24 at Daytona sports car race with a Daytona Prototype, the series highest level of racing. The car will get its public on track debut at a test session at Daytona International Speedway on Wednesday, November 16.

Like all of the Daytona Prototypes, the Corvette will use a spec chassis with its own engine. The car is being engineered by Pratt & Miller who also campaigns the Corvette in the American Le Mans Series. Four teams will use the car in the 24 Hours of Daytona: Spirit of Daytona Racing, SunTrust Racing, GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing and Action Express Racing .

The 50th anniversary of the Rolex 24 at Daytona takes place January, 26 - 29, 2012.
