Sedan and Sonic DuskChevrolet Sonic DuskUnited States of America, 2014 > present. Both will be on sale in the US in the spring.
The Sonic RS starts at $20,530 and brings the upgrades from the Sonic RS hatchback to the sedan body style. That means that it gets a 138hp and 148lb-ft tune of the 1.4-liter turbo four-cylinder engine and either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. It also gets a sport suspension tune with a lower ride height.
On the outside, the car gets a lower front air dam with vertical air intakes and fog lights. Inside, it gets aluminum pedals, a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel and black leather-covered sport seats. Fuel economy is exactly the same as the hatchback at 27mpg city and 34mpg highway with the manual transmission. It is available in Black Granite Metallic, Silver Ice Metallic or Summit White colors.
The Sonic Dusk starts at $20,945 and is based on a concept first shown at the SEMA show in 2011. It is designed to be a more luxurious version of the Sonic. It comes standard with a lower body kit, rear spoiler, 18in wheels and Ashen Grey Metallic exterior paint. All of the exterior trim is covered in matte black trim, except for the windows that get stainless steel trim.
The interior comes in Jet Black leather with fake Alcantara trim.
Power for the Sonic Dusk uses the 1.4-liter turbocharged engine with 138hp and either a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox. It is rated at 29mpg city and 40mpg highway with the manual.
“The Sonic RS and Dusk sedans offer all of the great attributes that have made the Sonic a popular choice in the subcompact segment and they add performance and design cues,” said Cristi Landy, marketing director for Chevrolet small cars.
Either car can be ordered with Chevrolet’s Performance kit for the Sonic. It adds a freer-flowing exhaust with 10hp and 15lb-ft extra power, a cold-air intake, suspension lowering kit, Wilwood front brake calipers and 18in wheels with performance tires.
