China Becomes Volvo's Largest World Market in November

is continuing major Chinese growth with sales now making it the company’s largest single market. For November, Volvo sales rose 5.8% worldwide to 37,945 cars. For the first 11 months of the year, sales are nearly flat with 0.4% growth and 384,789 cars sold.

Volvo sold 5,995 cars in China in November, up 69.4% from last year. It is the highest single month sales that Volvo has ever had in China, and nearly half of the sales came from the XC60XC60Volvo XC60Sweden, 2008 > present261 versions

. For the year through November, it has sold 54,461 cars there, up 44.7%.

Sales in the EU20 were up 11.4% in November to 21,167 cars. Of those, 5,371 of them were sold in Sweden in November, up 13.9%. Things are not quite so rosy when looking at full year sales. Volvo has sold 202,601 cars in Europe through November, down 2.3%. In Sweden, sales are up 1.2% to 46,780 cars.

Volvo is also facing steeply falling sales in the US. It sold 4,233 cars there in November, down 31.1%. For the year so far sales are down 9% to 56,345 cars. 

“We have now reported global growth during five consecutive months and we are also showing year-to-date growth versus last year,” said Alain Visser, head of sales at Volvo.
