"If a company that sells a few thousand vehicles wants to talk then we might do that, I am open to it. But it must not distract from our core business," said Dr. Zetsche.
While the deal has not been confirmed yet, new Aston Martin investor Investindustrial has close ties with AMG from when Investindustrial owned Ducati. Part of the reason Aston Martin took the 37.5% investment from the Italian company are because of these ties.
The first thing that Aston Martin wants from AMG is access to its V12 engine to replace the aging unit that Aston Martin developed with Ford. From there it hopes to gain access to other components like electronic components, but the V12 has the highest priority.
