Dany Bahar Officially Dismissed from Lotus

CEO Dany Bahar has officially been fired from Group Lotus. Bahar was suspended from Lotus on May 25 when its parent company DRB-HICOM found financial irregularities within the company.

Aslam Farikullah took over the role of Lotus Group COO on Thursday, June 7. The DRB-HICOM Group Manager, Mohd Khamil Jamil, took he role of Lotus Chairman. Jamil says that the company is committed to keep Lotus going.

DRB-HICOM bought Lotus parent company ProtonProtonMalaysia, 1983 > present9 models

in January from the Malaysian government, which privatized the company. Since that purchase the future of Lotus has been in doubt because Lotus was in the middle of a multi-year restructuring plan and was losing money.

Bahar had worked at Lotus since 2009. He transferred from Ferrari with the goal of increasing Lotus sales and modernizing the company.

Rumors have circulated that Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp (SAIC)ShanghaiChina, 1958 > 19792 models
and Genii Capital are interested in buying the company. Genii Capital runs the Lotus-Renault Formula 1 team.
