Earthquake Halts Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati Production

Despite being a completely modern automaker, the gates to the factory are as they were when it opened

to halt production and send workers home. 

The earthquake hit around 9am with a 5.8 magnitude on May 29. A 5.6-magnitude aftershock came a few hours later. Combined, both quakes killed 10 people in the region. The super car factories all located around Modena were not damaged but send workers home to be with their families. 

The first earthquake in the region was on May 20 with an epicenter around the town of  Finale Emilia about 35km northeast of Modena. That quake killed seven people. 

Production will resume on May 30.
