Fiat Announces Keeping Pomigliano Plant Closed Two Extra Weeks

Fiat's factory produces the Panda. Small cars have been among the hardest hit by the Euro crisis

has announced that it will keep its Pomigliano factory closed for two extra weeks in September and October due to low demand.

and has already had its summer break extended by two weeks due to low deman. The new break will be extended from September 24 to October 5. 

Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne has a press conference planned for October 30 where he will annouce plans about the company's future. Many workers are concerned that this could mean the closing of a plant or layoffs. Marchionne already said that the company will close a plant if it cannot find a way to cope with overcapacity.
