The official web site for Ron Howards' new film Rush has been launched. It reveals what we already suspected that the film will be released in 2013, but more importantly it includes the first official photos of the film.
If you have missed out, Rush covers the 1976 Formula 1 season specifically the rivalry between Niki Lauda and James Hunt. Lauda is played by German actor Daniel Bruhl who is probably best known as the German soldier Fredrick Zoller in Inglorious Basterds. Hunt is played by Chris Hemsworth who is best known as Thor in Thor and The Avengers.
The film was shot on location in the UK, Germany and Austria with a mixture of actual 70s-era Formula 1 cars and replicas.
Rush was written by Peter Morgan who has extensive experience writing historical dramas. His resume includes The Queen, The Last Kind of Scotland, The Other Boleyn Girl, Frost/Nixon and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. He also co-wrote the next James Bond movie Skyfall.
From the photos released and the other media that have been released, the film appears to have great attention to detail. If you love Formula 1, it is a film to look forward to.
