are the two latest automakers considering adding factories to Mexico, according to Mexican Economy Minister Ildefonso Guajardo.

Guajardo says that he has been in negotiations with both companies to open factories in Mexico that could break ground as soon as next year.

"With both of them, there have been conversations with us for future plants. I cannot talk for them, but I think that starting 2014 we'll have new announcements. At least for one,” said Guajardo.

Neither BMW nor Hyundai were willing to comment about the ongoing negotiations.

Last year, 2.88 million cars were build in Mexico, up 13% from the year before, and it is on pace for even higher production in 2013.
