has been holding an internal competition for its designers to stretch their design muscle and create any concept they want of future mobility. The ideas included a flying suit, a robot and amphibious transport. It allowed designers to imagine future mobility without being limited by technology or cost.
This year the theme was Discovery 2050 and challenged designers to imagine the year 2050 where a space probe has been launched searching for an alternative home for humanity. The items that Hyundai’s engineers created were supposed to fit on the probe.
The designs included Phonika from Japanese designer Teppei Maezono that is a human robot that works as a secretary. He also designed Noah, a flying city to support human life. There was also the UFO Flying Suit from American designer Roger Flores that is designed like a human spine to protect the wearer and allow them to fly. The Bio-Rider came from European designer Michel Glenisson that is meant to cover undiscovered planets and collect plants.
There were also non-automotive designs including dragon-like airships, jet packs and several boats.
