Hyundai showcase Blue2 in Seoul

Hyundai has taken aim at the fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) market at the 2011 Seoul Motor Show by introducing the Blue2.

Pronounced ‘Blue square’, the name of the vehicle comes in one part from Hyundai’s eco sub-brand ‘Blue Drive’ and secondly from the 2 in H2, the chemical symbol for hydrogen gas.  It lays out the blueprint for future Hyundai sedans by drawing power from an electric fuel cell system which produces 90kW of power and achieves a fuel economy of 2.8l/100km.

The Blue2 also features a heavy focus on aerodynamics with an ‘Intersected Flow’ body design, low-resistance tires and alloy wheels. The front and rear bumpers of the car also house LED screens which display the vehicles condition to outside viewers through ‘unique and futuristic images.’

The eco-friendly theme of the Blue2 continues on the interior with a ‘cluster ionizer’ to freshen the air inside the vehicle and genuine antibacterial leather complete with leaf-shaped patterning.

There are currently no plans for the Blue2 to go into production.

That face looks like a Aston Martin with a bit of Audi thrown in.
