America’s CEO John Krafcik says that Hyundai is “under-represented” in the crossover market, and that needs to change. He is hinting that the company will add a compact crossover to at least its US lineup.

"We are very under-represented. We lead the industry in sedans, we have a bunch of them, but if you look at our crossover line, we have two nameplates, the Tucson and the Santa Fe,” said Krafcik.

Krafcik made it clear that the new vehicle is not even in the planning stages yet, but Hyundai certainly sees the need for it in its lineup.

"Our growth potential in where we might want to put future products probably would be on the crossover side of the table. There are no plans for that right now. It seems sort of obvious. I mean, if you slice the data, that is where you would want to look,” he said.

Hyundai has only a 2% market share of the US truck market, but has a 7% market share for cars.
