brand director Adrian Hallmark has confirmed that its turbine hybrid supercar the C-X75 has been cancelled. It had completed five test cars and development will continue through May when three of the cars will be auctioned, and Jaguar will keep two. It blames the global economic crisis for not moving the car to mass production.
"We feel we could make the car work, but looking at the global austerity measures in place now, it seems the wrong time to launch an £800,000 to £1 million supercar. This is backed up by other products from us that people are screaming out for," said Hallmark.
The C-X75 was a 2010 concept that used two small turbine engines to power electric motors in each wheel hub. It used a carbon fiber monocoque developed by WIlliamsWilliamsUnited Kingdom, 1977 > present37 models

F1. Later, Jaguar said that the car would use a turbocharged and supercharged 1.6-liter engine that would act as a generator to charge batteries that would power an electric motor on each axle. Jaguar said that the second powertrain would be good for 888hp and 590lb-ft of torque, which would move the car to 60mph in 2.8 seconds. It would have a pure electric range of 60 miles.
The car will not be a total waste; Jaguar plans to use the hybrid powertrain that it developed for future Jaguars. It already showed a hybrid XJJaguar XJ Gen.4United Kingdom, 2010 > present59 versions
