Lady Gaga's Fashion Designer Takes on Smart ForTwo

to create a unique, be-winged Smart ForTwo that will be on display at the LA Auto Show. It has been dubbed the Forjeremy and is based on the electric ForTwosmart Fortwo Electric DriveGermany, 2012 > present10 photos
. The car was revealed at a pre-auto show party at Jim Henson Studios. 

“We were totally enthusiastic about the first sketches that Jeremy presented to us. Both Smart and the wings represent a bit of freedom on the crowded streets of major cities. In their respective disciplines, both the fashion designer Jeremy Scott and the smart brand are pioneering trendsetters," said Dr. Annette Winkler, Head of Smart.

Usually when Smart works with a fashion designer, only the interior gets work, but Scott wanted to take things a step further. Smart did not mind and allowed him to graph him design's wings to the car. Many of Scott's fashion designs feature a wing motif. 

The design took eight months to go from page to reality. Scott penned the design and submitted it to Mercedes' design center in California who performed the actual modifications. 

Each wing is made from transparent fiberglass and light up red when the brake lights are on. The rest of the car is painted white with a chrome safety cell. The car also has wider rear wheel arches and unique wheels that look like propellers. There is more chrome around the headlights. 

The interior is fitted with white Nappa leather on the instrument panel, seats and doors. The interior trim is chrome. The air vents have chrome covers to make them look like get engines. 

“For me, wings mean freedom, a sense of weightlessness. Because of this, I definitely wanted to have them for the smart electric drive in order to convey the way it frees the environment of noxious emissions and symbolizes the new lightness of mobility”, said Scott.

Scott has made clothing for Lady Gaga, Madonna, Katy Perry and Rihanna in his career.
