Former Formula 1 driver and famous UK Formula 1 announcer Martin Brundle and his son Alex Brundle will be two of the drivers of a Nissan-powered Greaves Motorsport car at the 2012 24 Hours of Le Mans. Martin Brundle drove the Nissan factory team's R390 GT-1 at Le Mans in 1997, but his car did not finish after completing 139 of the race's 361 laps.
Greaves Motorsport campaigns a Nissan-powered Zytek Z11SN. Last year the team took class wins at Le Mans, Imola and Silverstone. It also took the drivers' and team championships in the Le Mans Series.
Martin Brundle raced in Formula 1 from 1984-1996 and has since then been a commentator on Formula 1 in the UK. His son Alex is 21 years old and competed in the Formula 2 Championship last year. In 2012 he will be a driver for Greaves Motorsport for the entire Le Mans Series.
"I'm very much looking forward to returning to the Le Mans 24 Hour race with Nissan and the Greaves Motorsport LMP2 team. This is an unexpected pleasure, heightened by the fact I will be team-mates with my son. I'm eagerly anticipating a very special feeling when handing the car over to Alex during one of the world's greatest motor races. Class victory in front of the fanatical Le Mans spectators is the goal," said Martin Brundle.
