Mercedes Considering 911 Competitor

Mercedes is looking to add another sports car to its lineup. This time filling the void between the SLK and SL to fight directly with the Porsche 911. 

The AMG-designed car is rumored to be a two-seater and cost around £80,000. It could be on sale as early as late 2013. Power could come from a 500hp twin-turbocharged  5.4 liter V8 with rear-wheel drive. 

“AMG is a financial company and runs with targets, just like every other company. These products can’t just be built for fun. We need a reasonable return to new fund projects," said AMG boss Ola Kallenius.
