. European automakers do not have to meet the Euro6 standard for petrol engines until 2014. All engines must meet the emissions requirements to meet the Euro6 standard in 2017.
"With this advance compliance, Mercedes-Benz is once again highlighting its pioneering role when it comes to the environmental acceptability of its vehicles. With our diesel vehicles too, since as early as 2009 we have had an increasing number of models on the market which already meet the EURO 6 diesel requirements which will apply from 2014," said Dr. Thomas Weber, Mercedes Board Member for development.

, B200 and B250. They all produce fewer particulates than the new rule regulates. All of these A-Class and B-Class cars will get Euro 6 certification in August 2012. However, these engines have been compliant since the beginning, and owners will be contacted to be given the new documentation that should reduce their vehicle taxes.
