Mercedes Sets November Global Sales Record with 120,346 Cars Sold

Sales for the month up 5.7% and up 5.1% for the year

, set a November record for its sales with 120,346 units delivered, a 5.7% improvement over last year. The company is also up 4.9% for the year with 1,291,287 units delivered from January to November. 

Mercedes has sold 1,194,904 cars so far this year, a 5.1% improvement.

In North America, it has sold 279,675 units, an 11.4% improvement, and US sales are up 12% for the year to 245,910 cars. Sales in November were up 13.1% to 30,315 cars. 

Mercedes-Benz Cars is continuing to grow in Europe, barely. Sales in November were up 3% to 47,327 cars. So far this year, it has sold 507,602 cars, a 1% improvement. German sales are basically flat. Sales were up 0.6% for the month and up 0.2% for the year so far. The UK and France are performing better with improvements of 9.9% and 37.6% respectively for them in November. 

Asia is a rapidly growing market for all automakers. Mercedes-Benz Cars has sold 177,301 cars in China so far this year, up 4.2%, but sales in China were actually down 6.6% to 16,876 cars in November. The Asia market in general was up 0.3% to 28,909 cars in November and up 6.6% to 303,297 for the year. 

"In November we posted a new sales record again. Shortly before the end of the year we thus continue on course to making 2012 the biggest-selling year in company history so far. I am particularly pleased about the favorable response to our new vehicles. Above all else the A-Class is trending excellently," said Dr. Joachim Schmidt, head of sales and marketing at Mercedes-Benz Cars.

sold 21,706 units in November, which is a 38.1% improvement.

Smart sales are up 2.2% to 96,383 cars for the year.
