Mini Adds All-Wheel Drive to Countryman and Paceman

is adding its ALL4 all-wheel drive system to two more vehicles in Europe. The CountrymanMINI (BMW) Cooper Country...Germany, 2013 > present and PacemanMINI (BMW) Cooper Paceman...Germany, 2012 > present will both be available with the system, which had previously only been available on the S models of the two cars. Sales will begin in July. 

Both cars come with Mini's 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with 121hp and 118lb-ft of torque or 140lb-ft with the automatic transmission. The cars are available with either a standard six-speed manual or an optional six-speed automatic. 

Mini also revealed performance figures for the cars. The Countryman ALL4 takes 11.9 seconds to accelerate to 100km/h or 11.7 seconds with the automatic and a top speed of 184km/h or 182km/h with the automatic. It uses 6.9;/100km of fuel or 7.5l/100km for the automatic and emits 167g/km of CO2 (175g/km of CO2. Figures for the Paceman are almost identical. 

ALL4 uses an electronically controlled electromagnetic center differential that distributes power continuously between the front and rear. The system is integrated with the stability control system to send power where it is needed most.
