London will be hosting the Summer Olympics next year, and Mini is celebrating by making a special edition to celebrate the event. To show off Mini had England long jump champion J.J. Jegede jump over three Mini London 2012 editions.
Jegede's jump was about six meters long.
“When you watch athletics on TV it’s hard to really understand just how far professional athletes can jump. I’ve always wanted to demonstrate my ability in a fun way, so I jumped at the chance to perform an Evel Knievel-style display. It is my ultimate dream to compete at London 2012. I spend much of my spare time working with young people to get them involved in sport too, but I certainly advise any budding athletes not to try this one at home,” Jegede said.
Mini will make 2,012 London editions to commemorate the date of the event and will be available on Cooper, Cooper D, Cooper S and Cooper SD trims. The special edition will only be available in a choice of red, silver or blue for the colors on the Union Jack.
To set the car apart it has a union jack stripe over the bonnet, roof and hatch. The sides have the London 2012 Olympic graphic and exclusive 17in wheels not available on any other Minis. The interior has the London skyline etched into a piano black dashboard showing the Tower Bridge, Battersea Power Station and the London Eye. It also displays which production number out the 2012 that your car is.
The black leather seats are stitched in red and blue with the London 2012 logo stitched into the headrests. The stitching extends to the hand brake, gear stick and floor mats.
The pricing models for the London 2012 Edition is as follows for each model: £17,800 for the Mini Cooper, £19,080 for the Mini Cooper D, £20,125 for the Mini Cooper S and £20,860 for the Mini Cooper SD.
