Mini is adding some special accessories to its cars to encourage summer camping. It is offering a camper with two camping bays, and a tent that attaches to the top of the car both of which match with the styling of the Cooper.
The Cowley caravan offers enough room for two beds, gas stove, water tank with pump, solar module to charge the on-board batteries, a 230v power connection for the refrigerator and a combo TV/DVD player. It weighs 300kg and is just 12cm wider than the Cooper.
For the Cooper S which cannot tow a trailer, Mini is offering the Swindon roof-top tent that will fit on the Cooper, Clubman and Countryman. It offers room for two people, and a ladder to climb on top of the car. When closed it has a low, aerodynamic appearance that keeps with the car's sportiness.
Alright, that is enough playing around. This is Mini's attempt at an April Fools joke this year. If you notice the red car's license plate is Joke 2012, and the black car's license plate is Hoax 2012. Unlike the Google autonomous race car, this actually seems like a product Mini would sell. If it had not made it clear that this was a hoax, then this could easily have been real news.
