When the Volvo Museum opens its doors tomorrow for its traditional annual Activities Day it will also be signaling the 15th anniversary of the inauguration of the brand’s Museum, located in Arendal.
In the last 15 years the Volvo Museum has enlarged its first-class collection of historic Volvo vehicles which already includes more than 100 cars, trucks, buses and construction vehicles and also a large number of marine and aircraft engines, technical components, equipment, display material and other items that are part of the history of the various Volvo companies. As it is jointly ran by AB Volvo and the Volvo Car Corporation, the museum’s 6,000 square metre exhibition area is a space dedicated to all products carrying Volvo’s logotype.
The Volvo Museum Day and the 15th anniversary will be celebrated on Saturday May 8, starting at 10.00 in Arendal, and according to Sten-Åke Lyngstam, Director of the Volvo Museum, “This will be a Volvo Day to remember, packed with activities for the entire family. One of the most exciting events is the parade of old and new Volvo vehicles which will start off from the museum at 10.00 in the morning and proceed to the city centre.”
Besides the vehicles that compose the Museum’s collection, visitors will be able to see other Volvo cars, representing most of the classic models from the various Volvo clubs. After lunch the Commercial Vehicle Rally will finish up at the museum.
The entrance to the Volvo Museum will be free during the whole day.
