The five-door hatchback has received 70,000 pre-orders. The car is on track to be the most successful model launch in Mercedes history. 

Mercedes is also pushing forward with plans to create a compact SUV called the GLA using the new A-Class chassis. In fact, Zetsche blames not performing better against BMWBMWGermany, 1918 > present87 models
