In March the new BMW 5 Series Sedan will be arriving at the European market. The sixth generation of the German make’s sedan continues to offer the typical driving dynamics to which clients are already used to. It comes with more efficient engines and with an elegant and sporting looks.
The new 5 Series Sedan is equipped with the longest wheelbase in the segment, has a long and sleek engine compartment lid, short overhangs front and rear and a coupe-like roofline and continues to show some of the typical design features of the brand, found at the front with its BMW kidney grille inclined slightly forward and on the chiselled engine compartment lid, in the side view of the car and on the muscular rear end.
The new BMW 5 Series Sedan will be powered by one eight-cylinder and three six-cylinder petrol engines as well as two six-cylinder diesels. The range will also count with a four-cylinder turbodiesel with an aluminium crankcase and common-rail direct injection.
BMW’s new eight-speed automatic transmission will be an option available for all the versions of the new 5 Series Sedan. The BMW 550i comes as standard with BMW’s automatic transmission optimised for efficiency.
BMW is starting a new chapter on the story of a model that has already sold more than 5.5 milion units throughout five previous generations. The new model is based on a newly developed vehicle architecture also featured in the BMW 7 Series luxury sedans. The new 5 Series Sedan is built at the BMW Plant Dingolfing in a joint production with the 7 Series, with the extensive use of shared components ensuring highly efficient production.
