Nismo as a range-topping model that will define the type of work that Nismo does. New details about the car have emerged, and it indicates that the car will be the fastest Nissan ever.
The company’s goal is for the new Nismo GT-R to lap the Nordschleife in under 7:18. For frame of reference, Porsche lapped the track in its prototype 918 Spyder in 7:14.
The GT-R Nismo will offer better handling, more power and improved looks compared to the standard car. Power will be in excess of 570hp. The car will not go on sale until 2014.
"It would be unthinkable for us to develop a range of Nismo road cars without including the GT-R. The GT-R Nismo will be special,” said Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn during the Nismo headquarters opening.
Nismo has a history of building limited edition, high-performance GT-Rs. It built a limited run of 44 400hp versions of the fourth generationNissan Skyline GT-RJapan, 1995 > 19982 photos
model and 20 fitth-generationNissan Skyline GT-R R34Japan, 1999 > 20022 photos
models with 500hp. It is safe to expect that the next Nismo GT-R will be something special.
