Next Land Rover Defender to be Built in India

Next Land Rover Defender to be Built in India

Land Rover has confirmed that the next generation Defender will be built in Pune, India, at Tata's main factory. Some models due for Europe will get a portion of their final assembly done in England. The Defender will not be the first Indian-made Land Rover; the Freelander is already made there. The next generation Defender is due to go on sale in 2015

Building the Defender in India will lower production costs and keep production closer to Southeast Asia where it sells strongly.

There was a DC 100 concept at the Brussels car Show. very nice, but I think they should not kill the original Defender either. This one has cult status like the Porsche 911, the Mini or the Beetle.
