"Nismo is a brand built from over 30 years of racing experience and so it is fitting that we chose to work with a like-minded company such as Williams to develop the higher performance versions of our products. Williams have a proven history of making racing technology benefit road cars, and we look forward to starting this relationship during such a period of intensive product development for Nismo," said Nismo President Shoichi Miyatani.

Nismo just opened a new headquarters in Yokohama, Japan, in February and has announced plans to build more roadgoing cars. It is planning at least one model a year for the next several years.

Nismo is also currently developing the 2014 Garage 56 entry for the 24 Hours of Le Mans that will use a significant amount of electric power and possibly a series hybrid.
