at Goodwood, and it was successful with both of them. It successfully set the Guinness Record for a car in reverse over 1.0 mile and set the hill record for an electric car with the Leaf Nismo RC.
Driver Terry Grant reversed the Leaf over a mile in 1:37.02 for an average speed of 88.5km/h (55mph) to take the record. Later that weekend Grant managed a 1:11 time, but the Guinness auditor was not there to officiate the time.
"I had a great car at my disposal - with direct drive from the electric motor to its wheels, the Nissan LEAF can, in theory, go as fast backwards as it can forwards There were times I wasn't sure I was coming or going. However, thanks to the LEAF's low center of gravity - the batteries are an integral part of the car's floor - the car is extremely stable, no matter which direction it's traveling," said Grant.
