The latest top line GT-R is the Track Edition. While power stays the same to the standard car at 545hp, but it gets a new suspension setup, brake cooling ducts, a carbon fiber front splitter and removal of the rear seats. Nissan will offer just 150 of the special cars in the US starting in May.
The dampers have been replaced with Bilstein DampTronic shocks and higher spring rates. Nissan test driver Toshio Suzuki tuned the layout on the Nürburgring. The same Nürburgring testing led to the changes in the brake cooling. The interior gets blue-trimmed sport seats and removal of the rear seats. Finally, the Track Edition cars get a carbon fiber rear spoiler and six-spoke RAYS wheels
All versions of the GT-R get an updated engine that keeps power the same but adds new fuel injectors to improve mid-range torque an a baffle in the oil pan that will reduce changes in oil pressure under hard cornering.
Nissan also brought an upgraded version of the Nismo 370Z to Chicago, and it will go on sale in the summer. Power for the upgrade remains the same 350hp, but Nissan upgraded the suspension, added lighter, forged wheels, and provided a few interior and exterior upgrades.
The suspension gets upgraded dampers with higher spring and stabilizer bar rates.
On the outside, the obvious changes are the dark gray trim on the front fascia, rear fascia, side sills, mirrors and rear spoiler. Nissan added a longer front nose trim with a chin spoiler, which makes it 6.2in longer than a standard 370Z, that it says improves air flow and downforce. The 2014 car gets five-spoke, 19in RAYS wheels in gunmetal grey. The interior gets a new Alcantara steering wheel and a red tachometer.
The final performance car Nissan revealed in Chicago is the Juke Nismo, which was revealed at the 2012 24 Hours of Le Mans. The car turns the wick up on the standard Juke Turbo with an enhanced suspension, more power and a host of other upgrades.
The body changes to the Juke Nismo improve aerodynamics by 37% over the standard cars. Upgrades include a new front fascia with LED running lights, side skirts, wider wheel arches, lower rear bumper and rear diffuser. It rides on 10-spoke 18in wheels.
Inside buyers get Nismo seats, instruments, steering wheel, gearshift, pedals and door trim.
Power comes from the same 1.6-liter four-cylinder from the standard Juke with power bumped to 197hp and 184lb-ft of torque. Buyers can select either a six-speed manual with front wheel drive or CVT with all-wheel drive. The CVT cars get an extra vent on the left side that sends air to the transmission's oil cooler and a matching vent on the right for symmetry. The car is rated at 27mpg city and 32mpg highway with the manual or 25mpg city and 30mpg highway with the CVT.
