EV have been canceled due to financial reasons.

"It was a business decision. We could not charge the customer the price needed to make it work on the cost side," said Opel engineer Dieter Metz.

Opel says that right now customers are not willing to pay the premium for an electric vehicle over an internal combustion vehicle, especially in the Adam's class.

The Adam goes on sale in January in Europe for a starting price around €11,500. At launch it will be available with either a 1.2-liter or 1.4-liter engine, and a turbocharged 1.0-liter will come later in 2013.
