body variant: sedan, hatchback and Sports Tourer wagon.
The engine produces 140hp and uses 7.6l/100km of LPG producing 124g/km of CO2. While the fuel economy is worse than that standard petrol version that gets 5.7l/100km. However, the average price for LPG in Europe is €0.70 while petrol averages €1.53. All LPG cars come with a six-speed manual transmission.
The engine needed slight modification to accept LPG. It has a different ECU, strengthened engine valves and valve seat inserts. The LPG tank holds 42 liters, and the tank is located where the spare tire is stored on the normal car.
It is also possible to have a certified Opel dealer install the LPG into a standard gasoline Insignia. With both tanks, it has a total rage of 1,700km, and a 500km range from just the LPG. The LPG fuel tank is located next to the petrol fuel tank.
Prices for the sedan start at €28,150 including 19% German VAT.
