Chief Operating Officer Carlos Tavares has expressed interest in participating in the Formula E series possibly as soon as 2014.

"Formula E is something that we are looking at very closely. It's very probable to say that, if it happens, we will be involved in one way or another.

"It is completely consistent with our mastery of the technology, and we're eager to use that platform to show to the people what we can do," said Tavares.

Tavares is hoping that Formula E is a truly open championship that the organizers will be open to accepting new chassis. He wants Renault to be able to promote its electric technology worldwide using the series. Ideally, Tavares wants the series to be truly open, with no balance of performance to force the cars to have similar ranges or power.

Formula E has unveiled an eight-city calendar for its 2014 season and is still hoping to add two more cities for its inaugural season. It has made agreements with Los Angeles, Miami, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, London, Rome, Beijing and Putrajaya, India. The dates for the races have not been finalized yet.

It had been in negotiations with Monaco for a race, and it is probably the most likely to be added, if there are more races.

There are only two confirmed teams for the 2014 season out of 10 spots. They are Formula E Team Drayson and Formula E Team China Racing.

The team has confirmed its main chassis yet again. Now the chassis will be built by Dallara with the motors and drive units supplied by McLarenMcLarenMcLarenUnited Kingdom, 1963 > present92 models

. Teams are free to submit their own cars for approval, but the Dallara-McLaren's will be available to purchase for all of the teams.

The series has also confirmed Michelin as the series' official tire supplier.
