Saab Finished Accepting Bidders for Rights to Brand

The Saab 9-5 was the last new Saab model released

Saab might be dead, but that does not necessarily mean that the brand is dead. The brand's bankruptcy administrators are currently taking bids to the rights of the Saab brand. The final deadline for bids was Monday, April 9, but the administrators have not disclosed who made bids.

Swedish media reports indicate that Chinese automaker Youngman, Indian automaker Mahindra & Mahindra, and an un-named Japanese-Chinese consortium has bid as well. According to the administrator, all of the bidders want to restart production at the factory in Trollhatten.

Saab has 13 billion Swedish kronor ($1.928 billion at current exchange rates) and assets of 3.6 billion kronor ($534 million).
