showed a concept for its first hybrid vehicle concept in 2009, and it appears that Subaru may have its first hybrid on the road by the end of the year. Rumors indicate that its hybrid will be revealed at the New York Motor Show in March and go on sale later in the year.
The brand confirms that it is working on a hybrid but has not said whether the powertrain will be reserved for a unique model or available on its current cars. Hybrids have proven to be quite popular in sales in Japan and have growing popularity in North America.

Subaru has grown rapidly in the US in the last five years. In that time, the brand has doubled its US market share. It sold 336,441 cars in the US in 2012, up 26% over the previous year.
The Subaru Advanced Tourer Concept used a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with a hybrid powertrain.
