Tesla Model S Open for Orders and Customization

Tesla is ready to begin taking orders and allowing perspective buyers to customize the forthcoming Model S sedan. Tesla will be begin rolling out interactive tools to its Tesla Stores and online that will allow customers to customize the color, interior and options on the Model S. Tesla is also changing the interior specifications of the Model S Performance due to customer demand.

The Tesla Stores will be getting an upgraded suite of visual customization tools called Design Studio that works on touch screen devices. Tesla is working on another experience at its stores called Go Electric that will educate buyers who are unfamiliar with electric cars. It answers the questions about range, recharging and cost that many new buyers have.

The Model S Performance will now be available with carbon fiber, Piano Black, Lacewood or Banana Leaf interiors. Originally, the Performance was slated to be only available with the carbon fiber interior. The rear spoiler is also now an option, as opposed to mandatory.

All versions of the Model S will get seven years of free updates to the navigation system and satellite radio will be optional on all versions as well.

Tesla is also introducing Tesla Personal Delivery that will deliver your new car to you wherever you would like whether you are at home or on vacation.

The first deliveries of the the Model S will take place in June.
